The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenceman Ilya Solovyov from the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday in exchange for forward Valtteri Puustinen and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.
Solovyov has one goal and three points in 16 games with the Avalanche this season. He has also appeared in three AHL games with the Colorado Eagles.
The 25-year-old is a pending restricted free agent and carries an average annual value of $775,000.
A seventh-round pick of the Calgary Flames in 2020, Solovyov has one goal and seven points in 31 career NHL games with the Flames and Avalanche.
Puustinen has seven goals and 26 points in 35 games with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The 26-year-old winger last appeared in an NHL game with the Penguins in 2024-25, playing 13 games. He has seven goals and 24 points over 66 career games with the NHL club, which drafted him in the seventh round of the 2019 draft.
