Red River runs over West Fargo 8-1

GRAND FORKS — Stetson Brown scored a hat trick and Mason Brenno and Griffen Haagenson had six-points as Grand Forks Red River won commandingly over West Fargo 8-1 on Tuesday night.

The Packers opened the scoring on a goal by Brody Medina, assisted by Jack Josephsen, at 6:23 of the first period. But the Roughriders reeled off the next eight goals for the home win. Brenno had two goals and four assists for the Roughriders, 8-3, while Haagenson scored a goal and had five assists. Stetson also had two assists for a five-point night.

Liam Swenson had 27 saves and Austin Norton 10 for West Fargo, now 1-9-0-1 on the season. Alex Strauss had seven saves for the Roughriders.

Davies boys’ hot start leads to win over Sheyenne

FARGO — Five different Fargo Davies players scored in the first period as the Eagles cruised past West Fargo Sheyenne 8-3 in North Dakota East Region hockey on Tuesday.

Carter Salberg and Kasen Currance, who also picked up two assists, each finished with a pair of goals for Davies. Breckun Metcalf stopped 24 shots for the win.

Beckett Gigstad, Emmerich Netland, Brody Parmer and Connor Peterson also capitalized for Davies. Brody Benson, Bennet Benson and Taylor Zander scored for the Mustangs.

Votava’s OT goal lifts Spoilers over Spartans

FARGO — Ryker Votava’s goal at 1:04 into overtime capped a four-goal comeback as Grafton/Park River topped Fargo North 5-4 on Tuesday night.

Noah Troftgruben had two goals and had an assist on the game-winner for the Spoilers, who got just their second win of the season. Jonathan Presteng had a goal and two assists, including on the game-winner, as well.

Skyler Burkhardt had two goals for the Spartans, who took a 4-1 lead at the 4:56 mark of the third period before Grafton/Park River’s late rally.

Elijah Enger and Henry Wuitschhick also scored for the Spartans, who fell to 4-4-1-1 on the season.

Kaisin Twamley stopped 38 shots for the Spoilers, who are now 2-5-1-0 on the season. Dominic Crocker had 23 saves for the Spartans.

Fischer’s OT goal leads Spruins over West Fargo

FARGO — Kenleigh Fischer scored at 2:50 into overtime as Fargo North-South improved to 12-1 on the year with the 3-2 win over West Fargo United.

Brooklyn Woodard opened the scoring for the Spruins late in the first period, but West Fargo came back quickly to tie it on Emma Hassler’s goal. In the second, the two teams traded goals again, Jada Purdy first for the Spruins and Kaylee Augdahl for West Fargo. There was no scoring in the third period.

Fischer finished with a goal and an assist for Fargo North-South, as did Purdy. Hassler and Augdahl also had assists for West Fargo.

Reagan Wilson had 29 saves for West Fargo, now 7-6 on the season. Olivia Rotar had 23 saves for Fargo North-South.

Rerick tallies twice as Davies girls win

JAMESTOWN, N.D. — Sophia Rerick scored twice in the second period as Fargo Davies beat Jamestown 6-1 in North Dakota East Region girls hockey on Tuesday.

Jaden Melendez, Jasmin Deibert, Kyndal Sheely and Ellery Wilcox also tallied for the Eagles, who improved to 8-6-1. Stella Belzer scored a shorthanded goal for Jamestown (4-9-1).

Megan Suppes had 21 saves in the win.
