With the Vancouver Canucks in full rebuild mode everyone is available for trade, as such the rumours surrounding Elias Pettersson continue to grow, and his agent J.P. Barry has had just about enough of all the chatter.
“With interest picking up, at this rate it wouldn’t come as a surprise to many if the Vancouver Canucks were able to find a trade partner for the Sundsvall, Sweden native before the deadline, which is just 45 days away.”-Jaxon
The noise isn’t dying down for Elias Pettersson.
Colton Pankiw from the Daily Hive reported on the Pettersson rumours getting louder and louder as the season goes on. But he has provided no evidence that he is willing to waive his clause to get traded, and his agents have had enough of the fake rumours.
“I talked to his agent, J.P. Barry, they haven’t been talked to by the Canucks. All these people that want Pettersson traded, and all this Pettersson talk I don’t know if he’s going to waive. He’s got the final say. And his agents aren’t super happy with all those rumours, either.»-Rick Dhaliwal
If Pettersson and the Canucks continue to struggle, then anything can change. Most of the hockey world and Canucks fans wants to see him traded, the fans are frustrated with his lack of consistency, and the hockey world wants to see if a change of scenery would reignite the old Pettersson who was top five in points a couple years ago. His contract will be hard to swallow, but it hasn’t stopped more than half the league expressing their interest in him, only time will tell if and when he gets traded.
