MORNING SKATE NOTES

The Mammoth held an optional morning skate on Wednesday.
Head coach André Tourigny said that there are no lineup changes going into tonight’s game.

No Place Like Home

The Mammoth have had a strong start to 2026 and a big chunk of that has been on the team’s seven-game homestand. Through the first six games, Utah is 5-0-1, and has outscored its opponents 23-11. Tourigny discussed being consistent and what the team has done to play well during this stretch.

“If you look at our homestand, we’ve played direct hockey, predictable, we were connected,” Tourigny explained. “We’re consistent in our decisions with the puck, with the speed, the way we attack the net.”

With this recent success, the team is focused on continuing the hard work from this homestand.

“It’s either a good stretch or it’s who you are,” Tourigny continued. “I think what we want, we want to be, that’s who we want to be. That doesn’t guarantee the result. I’m not talking about results. I’m talking about the way we play. We want to play that way and wake up tomorrow morning and have the pride of, ‘hey ok, we’ve been consistent. We played that way and we kept going.’ So that’s what’s important for us is we don’t want to be one and done. We want to be consistent, take a lot of pride, know who we are, and keep being that.”

Practice, Practice, Practice

The Mammoth had two-straight practice days leading into today’s game. It was a rare opportunity to work on areas of the team’s game without the pressure of a game day. It also allowed the group to take some time to rest leading into the final stretch before the Olympic Break.

On Monday, the group worked on various elements including their neutral zone play. On Tuesday, the focus shifted to working on 4-on-3 and 5-on-3 situations. Following Tuesday’s practice, forward Jack McBain discussed this mini break in game action for the team.

“We’ve been able to do a lot,” McBain said on Tuesday. “I think it’s not often in the season with the condensed schedule where you get a couple days to practice and work on some things. I think we’ve been playing some really good hockey and we’re just fine tuning details for our game and get that much better. There’s been a bunch of stuff we’ve been touching on and it’s been good.”
