The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Josh Doan to a seven-year extension worth $48.65 million ($6.95 million per season), the team announced on Wednesday.
Doan, 23, has appeared in 49 games this season, scoring 15 goals and adding 20 assists.
“Josh is a player that impacts the team both on and off the ice,” Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen said in a statement. “He works hard, is competitive and skilled, and his game is going to continue to develop. We believe he will be a core piece of this team moving forward and I am excited to have him as a Buffalo Sabre long term.”
A native of Scottsdale, AZ, Doan was acquired in the offseason from the Utah Mammoth as part of a trade that sent JJ Peterka to Salt Lake City.
Originally taken with the 37th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft out of the United States Hockey League’s Chicago Steel, Doan spent two seasons at Arizona State before turning pro. He made his NHL debut with the Arizona Coyotes in 2024.
In 111 games over three career seasons, Doan has 27 goals and 36 assists.
Internationally, Doan won a gold medal with the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Championship. He registered a goal in nine games.
Doan is the son of Coyotes legend and Toronto Maple Leafs executive Shane Doan.
