Ex-Rangers fan favourite forward Chris Kreider provides a stunning response when asked about Chris Drury’s latest letter to the New York Rangers organization.

That backdrop is why even a short Chris Kreider quote lands like a headline. Peter Baugh reported Kreider’s reaction was basically a shrug, «My focus is on this room, this team.»

Unsurprisingly, Chris Kreider did not have much to say regarding The Letter 2.0: «My focus is on this room, this team.»

It’s classic Kreider, protect his room, don’t feed the noise, keep the answer short enough that nobody can twist it. But it also reads like a guy who knows the air has changed, even if he refuses to say it out loud.

Chris Kreider doesn’t feed into the New York Rangers noise

Honestly, I respect the professionalism. Kreider is 34 and still built like a power-forward cheat code, the straight-line engine who lives at the net front when games get nasty.

The short-answer Kreider provided is simple, play your game, win your battles, and let the front office handle the rest, and along with truly moving forward and putting his focus into the Ducks organization.

However, this doesn’t change the fact that fans are exhausted because they’ve seen this movie before, and they know the goodbye scenes are coming. The next milestone is whether the Rangers respond with structure and effort that looks like a team worth building around.

With this being said, the Rangers and Ducks are set to face each other tonight at 10:00PM, where Kreider and Zibanejad will face each other for the first time since he was traded.

Chris Kreider (illness) will play tonight against the Rangers after missing the last two games.

«I’m good to go, but I’m still very sick. Highly contagious, so basically anyone standing within 10 feet is guaranteed to get sick.»
