While we usually like to dance around the NHL, we’re going to hyper-focus on a potential Stanley Cup preview between the Detroit Red Wings and the Minnesota Wild.
Detroit are one of the hottest teams in hockey, picking up 15 of a possible 16 points in their last eight games to suddenly go even with Tampa Bay and Carolina as the top team in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota, meanwhile, has long been considered the third-best team in the Western Conference, behind the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars. The Wild went on an impressive seven-game winning streak in December, but are just 6-7-4 since that run came to an end.
Regardless of their respective forms, it’s quite obvious that these are two of the best teams in the league, and they’re going to put on a show for us tonight. Without further ado, here are our top NHL player props, anytime goal scorer picks, and a juicy parlay for this game.
NHL Anytime Goal Scorer PicksAlex DeBrincat Anytime Goal Scorer (+170)
🏒 Odds via DraftKings 🥅
DeBrincat is just getting an absurd amount of shots off over the last 10 games and has scored six goals in that span. The Wild allow the second-most shots on goal in the league, only behind the Toronto Maple Leafs, who the Red Wings faced last night. While DeBrincat didn’t score, he mustered six shots on frame, as well as 12 shot attempts for the second game in a row. We’re heavily backing him to score tonight.
Dylan Larkin Anytime Goal Scorer (+210)
🏒 Odds via FanDuel 🥅
Larkin, like DeBrincat, is in a great run of shooting form and is on a nice little three-game point streak. He provided a goal and an assist last night in Detroit’s 2-1 overtime win over Toronto, firing off five shots on target. He’s averaging five shots on frame in each of his last three games, and we’re backing him to keep the momentum going.
Kirill Kaprizov Anytime Goal Scorer (-102)
🏒 Odds via Caesars Sportsbook 🥅
Kaprizov has scored 25 goals this season but has only mustered three over his last 16 games, which has directly contributed to Minnesota’s downswing. If Kaprizov isn’t productive, the Wild don’t win games. It’s as simple as that.
Kaprizov has had no trouble firing off shot attempts, averaging 7.5 shot attempts per game during his 16-game slump. It’s only a matter of time before he finds the back of the net.
NHL Player PropsAlex DeBrincat 4+ Shots on Goal (+122)
🏒 Odds via FanDuel 🥅
If you listened to us last night to sprinkle some action on Alex DeBrincat to have 6+ shots on goal, you were handsomely rewarded with a nice +500 hit. DeBrincat is back to his best shooting form and gets to face the number one and number two teams that allow the most shots on goal in back-to-back nights.
Again, we heavily recommend sprinkling a little bit on DeBrincat to have 6+ shots on goal, this time, at +550.
Kirill Kaprizov 2+ Points (+120)
🏒 Odds via DraftKings 🥅
Even though Kaprizov has been in a huge slump during Minnesota’s tough spell, he’s still averaging an assist a game over his last 15 outings. Since we expect him to score, we also think he’s going to contribute with an assist as well.
Prediction
Given the form of these two teams, we’re going to have to go with the Detroit Red Wings in a high-scoring thriller. Nobody can stop them at the moment, and with Minnesota in a bit of a slump, we reckon that Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat will have fantastic games.
