BOSTON — A week after the Bruins’ possible trade for Rasmus Andersson didn’t reach the finish line, Boston didn’t have to face him.

Multiple reports said the Bruins and Calgary Flames were close enough to a trade for the versatile defenseman that Boston and Andersson’s representatives were allowed to discuss a contract extension.

But when those talks didn’t produce an agreement, Boston pulled out and Calgary dealt Andersson to Las Vegas with no extension.

The Golden Knights are in Boston for a Thursday matchup, but Andersson won’t be in the lineup.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Andersson needs a visa to be able to live and work in the United States which can take several days.
