A National Hockey League insider has delivered a big update this week regarding the Abbotsford Canucks and their Calder Cup ring fiasco after months of waiting.

Ever since winning the Calder Cup, things have gone downhill for the Abbotsford Canucks as they’ve lost several key players, including MVP goaltender Arturs Silovs, they currently sit 16th in the Western Conference and as of today, still haven’t received their Calder Cup championship rings.

“Also, not sure why, it’s almost Christmas, and the Abbotsford players still have not received their Championship rings from winning the Calder Cup last year. You would think that would have been done by now. What the hell is going on there? Get those guys their rings. They deserve it for winning the Calder Cup.” Rick Dhaliwal said in mid-December.

During Tuesday’s edition of Donnie & Dhali, National Hockey League insider Rick Dhaliwal revealed that members of the 2025 Calder Cup-winning team, that are still around, will receive them in a ceremony on Thursday evening.

The timing of the ring ceremony worked out perfectly, as Dhaliwal pointed out in his post on X that the Vancouver Canucks and Abbotsford Canucks both have the day off, allowing everyone to participate.

“The Abbotsford Canucks are getting their AHL Calder Cup rings on Thursday night.

Both Vancouver and Abby have the night off, so the guys up top can take part as well.” Dhaliwal said.

The fact it’s taken this long to receive the rings is a bit wild as it’s been over six months since the team hoisted the Calder Cup, but nevertheless, this is an important moment for every single person both on and off the ice that helped deliver a championship to Abbotsford, which, as mentioned, is the first in franchise history.

Hopefully tomorrow night’s ceremony will give the Abbotsford Canucks a bit of a morale boost as they gear up for the final three months of the regular season and with the club sitting 11 points back of the Tucson Roadrunners for the seventh and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division.
