We have a last-minute announcement from the Montreal Canadiens ahead of their game against the Boston Bruins.

The Canadiens have just cancelled today’s scheduled practice in Brossard.

This comes the day after the loss to the Buffalo Sabres, and just before a game against the Boston Bruins.

Instead of hitting the ice, the group will hit the road and turn the day into a travel day.

In a stretch like this, that kind of decision always gets people talking. You can see it as a team looking to rest, or a team trying to avoid another injury.

When you lose an important game, routine becomes a tool.

Sometimes, the best adjustment is rest.

Cancelling practice means accepting that preparation will come through recovery and travel.

It doesn’t fix everything, but it can put a bit of life back into tired legs. It also opens the door to a calmer day to manage bumps and ongoing situations.

What’s certain is that the response will come on the ice tomorrow night.

It will be a very important game – a four-point game – for the Atlantic Division standings:

Habs cancelled practice that was scheduled for today in Brossard. Instead it will be a travel day as they head to Boston for tomorrow night’s game against the Bruins.

So it should be a fairly quiet day today.
