A new report out this week has revealed what Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin could get for veteran forward Evander Kane before the trade deadline.

“According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that – in an effort to get younger – they are willing to listen to offers on ‘veteran players.'” Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet said.

With Kiefer Sherwood, the team’s top trade chip, dealt to the San Jose Sharks earlier this week, the attention has now shifted to other members of the team, with Evander Kane beginning to draw interest, with the Los Angeles Kings reportedly speaking with the Canucks about the Vancouver native recently.

“While it’s still a rumor – something we don’t normally spend too much time on, but this was just too intriguing to not stop and give it pause for a few minutes – two separate sources over the past week have indicated to Mayor’s Manor that they believe Holland is kicking the tires on a potential Kane trade.” Mayor’s Manor said last weekend.

New report reveals what the Vancouver Canucks could get for Evander Kane

In a recent article for The Athletic, Harman Dayal believes that Evander Kane’s trade stock is rising due to his strong play at both ends of the ice in recent games and if he’s able to keep this up, he could fetch the Vancouver Canucks a decent asset at the deadline.

Dayal compared Evander Kane’s situation to a trio of depth wingers from last year’s deadline – Brandon Tanev, Trent Frederic, and Anthony Beauvillier – all of whom were able to net a second round pick and if the 34-year-old manages to put together several solid performances, perhaps that’s what the Canucks could get for him.

“However, considering how much is on the line for Kane, there’s a genuine possibility that this is him ramping up at an opportune time of the year. If he keeps this up, it should boost his trade value, especially since we saw depth winger rentals such as Brandon Tanev, Trent Frederic, and Anthony Beauvillier fetch second-round picks at last year’s deadline.” Dayal said.

Everyone knows what Evander Kane is capable of when he’s at the top of his game and his last two runs to the Stanley Cup Final with the Edmonton Oilers proved that, which is why it wouldn’t be a surprise if he garnered significant interest once the NHL returns from their Olympic break towards the end of Februrary.
