Construction crews are continuing to rapidly progress on the Calgary Flames’ new arena.

Scotia Place, which started being built in the summer of 2024, is expected to serve as the new home of the Flames for the 2027-28 season. Based on the progress made, they appear to be well in line with hitting that target.

Earlier this week, the Instagram account of Scotia Place announced several more exciting updates that took place during the month of December.

Fans walking past Scotia Place can now see the full height of the building, as the structural steel has reached its maximum height. Meanwhile, the pouring of the concrete floor has been completed for the new Flames team store.

With how quickly the outside of the building is coming together, there is also expected to be plenty more work done indoors beneath the concourse early in the new year. Though there is still a ways to go, it’s hard not to get excited about how fast this is all coming together.

Once complete, this building is expected to have several cool amenities both inside and out. The outside will include plenty of dining areas, along with a large viewing screen, which will serve as the new home of the Flames Red Lot.

Inside the building will be even better. Perhaps best of all is a three-level restaurant and sports bar, but that’s far from it. This rink will have a diverse food hall, a massive Flames team store, an attached community arena, and much, much more.

Once this building is ready to rock, it has been announced that the Saddledome will be demolished a short time later. The Saddledome has served as the home of the Flames since 1983.
