The agent for Vancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek has set the record straight about trade rumors involving his client and his future in the Lower Mainland.
As the Vancouver Canucks continue to navigate their rebuild, the club is still trying to figure out who they’re going to part with and who they’re going to keep around beyond the trade deadline in early March.
“So Filip Hronek?
“I could see it happen,” one league source suggested to me Tuesday about whether the Canucks would even consider trading a defenceman they signed to a contract extension in the summer of 2024.” TSN’s Chris Johnston said.

“This is just wasted air. Great players are in demand everywhere. But the NHL is not fantasy hockey. Why bring up players that are not available for trade? Vancouver management and coaches are happy with Fil and Fil has no interest in going anywhere else.” Walsh said on X.
During Thursday’s edition of his podcast, Agent Provocateur Walsh talks about those trade rumors involving Filip Hronek and believes that his client is going to be a big part of the Canucks’ core going forward as they begin their rebuild.
“Talking about Filip Hronek being traded is wasted air. I’m not going to divulge directly my conversations with management, but let’s just say there is an understanding that Filip Hronek is going to be part of the solution going forward in Vancouver and not somebody that they’re going to be looking to move. So both sides are basically saying we’re really happy with each other and we really like the role you’re playing and the player is satisfied with the role that he’s playing. Obviously, Filip is not happy when Vancouver loses because there is no more competitive guy, who hates losing more than I know, more than him.” Walsh said.
Trading Filip Hronek would probably be a mistake for Patrik Allvin and the front office as the team needs someone like him on the blueline, who is locked up long-term, that can mentor the young guys like Zeev Buium and Tom Willander, among others.
Anything can change with one phone call, but don’t expect Filip Hronek to be going anywhere anytime soon.
