Bogdan Trineyev earns extension after strong AHL performance with Hershey Bears

Trineyev has posted impressive numbers with the AHL’s Hershey Bears this season. The 6-foot-3, 206-pound forward has recorded 20 points through 30 games with nine goals and 11 assists while playing a responsible two-way game. His production ranks among the Bears’ leaders in multiple categories. Trineyev sits third on the team in both goals and plus-minus rating with a plus-8 mark. He also ranks fourth in points and fifth in shots with 64 through the first half of the season. His first taste of the NHl came against the Jets when he made his debut on Dec. 13 and has since been part of one more game with the Capitals. But their brief experience, his time with the Hershey Bears, was too good for Washington not to keep him to further develop his all-around game.Trineyev has steadily improved since joining the Hershey organization. Last season, he posted 22 points in 62 regular season games before elevating his play during the Calder Cup Playoffs. He led the Bears with five goals and seven points in eight postseason games. That’s a rise from the 16 points he scored across 63 games in 2023-24 on his debut. But while his numbers in the regular season weren’t anything special, he pulled his weight in the playoffs as he played all 20 games. His four assists during this run even helped the Bears claim the Calder Cup.The Voronezh native has compiled solid career numbers in his time with Hershey. Through 157 AHL games, Trineyev has recorded 58 points with 32 goals and 26 assists while posting a plus-33 rating. He has already made it clear that he can be effective on both ends of the ice while also maintaining his calm in pressure situations. So when his name came in the 2020 NHl Draft, the Capitals were quick to swoop him in the fourth round as the 117th overall pick. So far, that investment has brought silverware for their AHL affiliates, and this two-year extension shows that Washington wants to give the youngster more time to develop.
