The Buffalo Sabres picked up a 5-0 win this afternoon while the Carolina Hurricanes face the Ottawa Senators tonight. The Sabres’ AHL affiliate the Rochester Americans play tonight against the Cleveland Monsters. The Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate the Chicago Wolves will face the Rockford IceHogs tonight. The two AHL affiliates will do without a few players as the Hurricanes are sending defenseman Gavin Bayreuther to Buffalo in exchange for forward Viktor Neuchev.

Gavin Bayreuther

Bayreuther returned to the AHL this season after spending last season in the NL with Lausanne HC. He’s spent nine seasons in the AHL appearing in 271 games between three different teams. He has 130 points on 29 goals and 101 assists. He’s a minus-one with seven power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and two game-winning goals. This season, in 33 games for the Wolves, he has 13 points on 4 goals and 9 assists. He’s a plus-three with a shorthanded goal. 

Viktor Neuchev 

Neuchev is in his third season with the Americans. The Sabres drafted him 74th overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. In 130 AHL games, he has 66 points on 24 goals and 42 assists. He’s a plus-five with three power-play goals and two game-winning goals. This season in 34 games he has 16 points on six goals and ten assists. He’s a minus-two with two power-play goals.
