Artemi Panarin's trade cost from Rangers revealed by NHL insider

The whole hockey world knows Artemi Panarin is on his way toward being traded.

The only question is what the New York Rangers will ask to get in return.

Sounds like the asking price is pretty high, too.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Rangers are looking for something similar to what the Islanders got a season ago when they traded Brock Nelson to the Colorado Avalanche.

In that deal, the Islanders got a first-round pick, promising prospect Calum Ritchie and a third-round pick.

Panarin is a better scorer than Nelson has ever been, but Nelson gained value from being a center.

This season, Panarin has 56 points in 51 games.

He also has a no-move clause in his contract, so he’s in control of where he does or doesn’t end up.

It could be some seriously intriguing bidding as the trade deadline gets closer and Panarin remains available for the taking.
