Sorokin took the loss in his most recent start on Wednesday, allowing 3 goals on 24 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken. Despite that result, Sorokin has been strong in January, posting a 4-2 record with a 2.36 GAA and a .927 SV%. Islanders at Flyers picks and predictionsPrediction

Flyers 4, Islanders 3

BET FLYERS (-115).

Philadelphia and New York have already played 2 tight games this season, with both matchups going to shootouts and the Flyers emerging on top each time.

Philadelphia now returns home after a challenging West Coast trip that included stops against the Vegas Golden Knights, Utah Mammoth and Colorado, finishing 2-1. January has tested the Flyers against elite competition, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins, and this sets up as a favorable spot. Philadelphia brings a physical edge, led by RW Garnet Hathaway, one of the league’s leaders in hits, and continues to generate offense through speed and transition play from Tippett, who is coming off a hat trick.

The Islanders have struggled to score consistently, ranking 24th in goals per game, and their power play has been a major liability at 15.6%, 30th in the NHL.

With confidence from previous meetings and Ersson unbeaten against New York in his career, the Flyers are well positioned to secure a needed home win Monday night.

PASS.

This should be a tight game which is why I’ll avoid the puck line and stick with the moneyline.

BET OVER 5.5 (-140).

The total has gone Over in 5 of the last 7 meetings between the Flyers and Islanders. Philadelphia has also seen the over hit in 5 of its last 6 games and has scored at least 3 goals in 4 of the last 5. While New York has been solid defensively overall, it recently allowed 5 and 4 goals in losses to Buffalo and Seattle. Philadelphia’s defensive inconsistency adds further support for a higher-scoring game.
