With Toronto’s season potentially on the line, they are calling upon Joseph Woll once again to make a last minute push against the Sabres.

As the Maple Leafs try to find some way to turn their season around, they aren’t going to have an easy time as the Buffalo Sabres come into town red-hot and since they always seem to have Toronto’s number — it could be a rough night.

The team needs as much firepower as possible and it’ll be up to the stars to get things going quickly. But one concern remains in their net, as it’s pretty much a coin toss for Craig Berube these days.

Woll gets the call for Maple Leafs in potential do-or-die game

Well for him it seems like it landed on Joseph Woll again, as the goaltender is projected to start on Tuesday night as he makes his second start in as many games:

With Toronto needing to stop the Sabres as best they can, turning to Woll is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, he could have shaken off last game’s brutality and put in a vintage outing which leads Toronto to squeak out a win.

On the flip side, he could be just as ineffective and out of place as he was against Colorado and with Buffalo’s top forwards playing unreal as of late; the team may be down a few goals early.

A loss doesn’t end the season but it raises the pressure on Toronto’s front office

This game isn’t exactly the determining factor of the entire season but it’s surely a crucial point where Toronto needs to determine whether or not they are going to make a last-minute push or rather sell off what assets they have and recoup what they’ve lost.

The Atlantic is a much different beast this season, with Florida and Toronto sitting towards the bottom meanwhile teams like Buffalo are firmly in contention for a playoff spot, and if anyone needs two points right now it’s the Maple Leafs.

They can’t afford to go to overtime and they certainly can’t afford a loss, so they will have to rely on the wide shoulders of Joseph Woll to carry them through if times get tough, but it might not be enough if the team can’t all rally together in the end.
