After a few months has seen the collapse of the Montreal Canadiens goaltending, President of Hockey Operations Jeff Gorton announced that the team’s goaltending coach Eric Raymond has been relieved of his duties.

Raymond will be replaced by Marco Marciano, who had the same role with the Laval Rocket. Marciano joined the Canadiens organization in 2013 when he was the video coach for the Hamilton Bulldogs. He was appointed goaltending coach of the St. John’s Ice Caps in 2015, and has kept that role with the Rocket. Marciano was also the video coach of the Canadian Olympic women’s team that won gold at the 2010 Olympics.

Marciano will hold the role until the end of the season on an interim basis. He has already worked with Jakub Dobeš and Jacob Fowler. Samuel Montembeault was with the Rocket for two games during a conditioning stint.

Raymond was first hired in 2021, and has worked for the New York Rangers organization and in the QMJHL
