The Philadelphia Flyers (24-18-9) look to bounce back from a shutout on Monday with their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets (24-20-7) at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Wednesday.

Philadelphia was building a ton of momentum, picking up five out of six points on a three-game road trip, before all of that was buried by a 4-0 shutout loss to the Islanders on Monday. It has been a bleak stretch for the Flyers, going 2-6-2 over their last 10 games. They are 2-2-1 in their last five.

The Blue Jackets have been on fire since firing head coach Dean Evason. Since dismissing their head coach and replacing him with Rick Bowness, the Blue Jackets are 5-1-0. They have also won six of their last seven games.

It will not be an easy task for the Flyers, who will once again play in a nationally broadcast game. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. EST at Nationwide Arena. Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Game Notes

Rick Tocchet mixed and matched the Flyers’ defensive pairs at Tuesday’s practice. That left the indication that Emil Andrae will be taking a seat in this game. With that, it looks like two pairs that have not been used at the start of a game this season will be deployed. I will be closely watching the York-Drysdale duo.

Other roster decisions. There has still been no update on Dan Vladar’s status. If he is activated prior to Wednesday’s game, I expect him to go. He had a full practice on Tuesday, so he should be ready. However, he has not yet been activated. So, if Vladar is a no-go, I’d expect Sam Ersson to get his fifth consecutive start.

The Cates line, Owen Tippett, and Denver Barkey have all looked very good for the Flyers, even if the stat sheet does not particularly show it. Other players have been far less noticeable. On Wednesday, I will be looking to see if guys like Trevor Zegras, Travis Konecny, and Christian Dvorak can step up and snap the top line out of its funk.
