In just his fourth period of hockey since returning from an upper-body injury, Philadelphia Flyers’ defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen exited the game during the first period of Wednesday’s game vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets.
As previously mentioned, Ristolainen had just returned from an upper-body injury suffered sometime before the team’s January 14th game against the Buffalo Sabres. That was the first game missed before eventually being placed on injured reserve.
The Finnish blueliner and Olympian returned from injury before the Flyers’ January 26th game against the New York Islanders on Monday at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
After a TV timeout on the TNT, Brian Boucher, who is between the benches on the TNT broadcast, talked to Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet. Tocchet told Boucher that he did not, at that moment, have an update on Ristolainen and that he thinks the defenseman fell.
If it is another injury, it is an unfortunate injury to a guy who cannot seem to stay healthy. You have to feel for Ristolainen.
Again, there has not been an update provided on the defenseman. An update will be made to this post once one becomes available.
Update on Ristolainen
Per the Flyers, Rasmus Ristolainen will not return to Wednesday night’s game with a lower-body injury.
Keep in mind, Ristolainen played just 1:01 before leaving the game. I will rewatch the game during the second intermission and find what could have happened.
