Dan Vladar’s return and Travis Konecny’s hat trick couldn’t save the Flyers from their struggles.
The club followed up its dud on home ice with a 5-3 loss Wednesday night to the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
Konecny’s second and third goals made it a 3-3 game in the final stanza. But not even a minute and a half after Konecny punctuated his hat trick, the Flyers lost Sean Monahan backdoor as Columbus regained its lead.

But the Flyers didn’t help Vladar a whole lot. They fell behind just 38 seconds into the action after a Trevor Zegras turnover led to a point-blank look for Charlie Coyle.
With 20 seconds left in the first period, Owen Tippett lost a puck battle with Zach Werenski, who then found Kirill Marchenko to give Columbus a 2-1 lead. The Flyers wanted a penalty on Werenski, but didn’t get it.
Early in the second period, the Flyers’ deficit grew as Erik Gudbranson scored on a shot through a ton of traffic.
