First Period

Poor turnover by the Canes and Tanev puts one off the pipe.

Good start for the Mammoth through the first few minutes. Continuing to assert themselves and apply pressure towards the net.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) January 30, 2026

Utah turns the puck over near their own net and the Canes score.

Keller lost control and then didn’t cover Svechnikov who buried it.

1-0 Carolina

Dominant stretch by Carolina after opening the scoring.

They are attacking with a ton of speed and capitalizing on turnovers all over the ice.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) January 30, 2026

Utah is really disconnected tonight in terms of their passing.

Having a really tough time finding each other out there while the Canes continue to fly into the O-zone with speed and break them down.

Need to find some momentum here in the last few minutes of the first.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) January 30, 2026

But with a nice finishing check behind the Canes net.

He should look for that more often. With his size he could flatten skaters all over the ice.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) January 30, 2026

Better finish to the period but still fairly disconnected.

Lots of work through the next 40. https://t.co/B96rKgZbXN

Yamamoto’s goal juiced Utah’s offense.

Best stretch of offense all night. Way more movement and connection.

Kotkaniemi took a hard spill into the boards behind Utah’s net after Sergachev applied some force with his stick.

TBH, I think it was more of Kotkaniemi’s own momentum that made it look so bad.

Sergachev to the box for a crosscheck.

He trolled the crowd on his way to the box.

Stenlund to the box for a crosscheck.

This game is getting spicy. Lots of physicality, punishing hits, and CHIRPING.

Love it.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) January 30, 2026

Svechnikov will sit in the box for a high stick.

Utah to the PP.

2P: 0:14 | 3-2 Utah

An explosive second period of hockey has the Mammoth in front of the Canes 3-2.

Yamamoto got Utah on the board and that ignited the offense.
