For several weeks now, the name Nazem Kadri has been circulating in trade rumours, and we have just learned an interesting piece of information.

Kadri is having a season that is somewhat below expectations with the Flames.

The Calgary team is not heading in the right direction, and management could decide to clean house soon.

That said, Kadri recently made an announcement to his team.

Nazem Kadri revealed that he is open to being traded, according to David Pagnotta

Kadri has made it clear that he wants to be traded and that his time in Alberta could be coming to an end. Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild are among the teams interested.

The Flames currently sit 30th in the league with a disappointing 21-25-6 record this season.

He was drafted 7th overall in 2009 by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kadri is still carrying a heavy contract worth $7 million per year, valid for three more full seasons after this one.

His production has declined, with 35 points in 52 games, but his playoff experience remains a rare commodity.

Calgary appears willing to retain part of his salary to facilitate a trade before the trade deadline.

The Canadiens need a strong character player, and Kadri would be a good fit.

Things should move quickly, as several teams, including Dallas and Colorado, are also in the mix.

This situation is shaping up to be an interesting one over the next few days.
