New York rangers assistant coach Michael Peca has made the decision to leave the Rangers organization and join a shocking team team in the Western Conference.
This offseason has been a crazy one for many organizations throughout the National Hockey League as many teams are looking to make massive changes to their coaching staff, including the New York Rangers.
However, after a series of reports surfaced it appears the New York Rangers will now need to find a new assistant coach as Michael Peca has made the decision to leave the organization.
It was just announced that Michael Peca has been named as an assistant coach of the Chicago Blackhawks alongside Anders Sorensen, after the Blackhawks organization has just announced the hiring of their new head coach Jeff Blashill.
As reported yesterday, Jeff Blashill is the new head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks. Anders Sorensen remains with the club as an assistant and is joined by Michael Peca (from NYR).
With that being said, reports have also surfaced from Arthur Staple, that suggest the New York Rangers are currently searching and in the process of filling out Mike Sullivan’s coaching staff.
“Michael Peca leaving #NYR to join Hawks coaching staff. Source says process ongoing to fill out Mike Sullivan’s coaching staff.”
Peca has quite the resume as he first brought into the NHL by the Washington Capitals to help develop young talent. However, his work is most notable during his time with the Buffalo Sabres as he helped many of their top prospect.
Peca was instrumental in the development of the Sabres’ top prospects, most notably Jack Quinn, Jiri Kulich and Isak Rosen, the team’s first-round picks in each of the last three years, as well as 2020 second-round pick JJ Peterka.
