As the Philadelphia area remains stuck in a deep freeze, so do the Philadelphia Flyers. The snowball kept growing as they faced the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

The Bruins scored two goals in the first and three in the second on the way to their 10th win in the last 12 games, as the Flyers fell for the 10th time in 12 games by a score of 6-3.

The Bruins opened the scoring at 9:49. Viktor Arvidsson got to the middle of the ice and fired a shot through the five-hole of Sam Ersson to make it 1-0 on his 13th goal of the season. Just 41 seconds later, Pavel Zacha was left alone in front and scored his 15th goal of the season to make it 2-0.

Through 20 minutes, shots are 10-9 Boston.

Just 2:27 into the second, the Bruins added to the lead. Fraser Minten scored off the rush for his 14th goal of the season. The Flyers got on the board less than a minute later at 3:16, with Travis Konecny scoring his 21st goal of the season.

The Bruins added two late goals from Casey Mittelstadt and Tanner Jeannot to open up a 5-1 lead with 1:20 to play in the period. Just 25 seconds later, Nikita Grebenkin scored his fourth goal of the season.

Through two periods, shots were 21-20 Flyers.

Ersson exited the game with an injury after the second period. He finished with 15 saves on 20 shots in the loss.

Dan Vladar finished the game, stopping all six shots he faced. Jeremy Swayman made 33 saves on 36 shots in the win.

The only Boston goal in the third was an empty-net goal by Marat Khusnutdinov. Matvei Michkov scored on the power play in the final two minutes for his 13th of the season.

Konecny had two points for the Flyers. Mittelstadt and Minten each had three points. Andrew Peeke and Jonathan Aspirot had two assists.

The Flyers are back on home ice for the next three games. They face the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
