The Blackhawks did not have a good night on Thursday, losing on the road to the Penguins 6-2, but Connor Bedard continued to impress. While the game was completely out of reach late in the third period, Bedard scored his 21st goal of the season. While it did not mean much in terms of the final score, it did etch him into the franchise history books. That goal was the 66th goal of his career, making him the franchise leader in goals scored before turning 21 years old.
Bedard has a lot of time to continue creating separation for the franchise record as well, as he will not turn 21 years old until after the season concludes. As Chicago continues to fight to remain in the Western Conference playoff picture, Bedard continuing to be able to score can keep the team in the race. Bedard has been struggling to find the back of the net since returning from his injury, as this was just his second goal in 10 games since returning after a month.
It will be intriguing to see how Chicago and Bedar are able to play as they are on a four-game losing streak now. With the NHL Olympic freeze coming next week, this is a chance to end this part of the season with some momentum, led by their franchise star.
