The Montreal Canadiens played an excellent game against the Colorado Avalanche, and one player could deserve supplemental discipline following a dangerous hit.
The Canadiens defeated the Avalanche 7-3 in a game where Nick Suzuki scored two goals and added an assist. Jakub Dobes also made 26 saves, while Juraj Slafkovsky reached the 20-goal mark this season.
It can be said that Martin St-Louis’ group may have played its best game of the season.
Dobes also played an excellent game and should certainly be in net for the next matchup.
Dangerous hit on Kaiden Guhle puts NHL discipline in focus
The game between the Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche was marked by a dangerous play following a hit by Josh Manson on Kaiden Guhle.
Kaiden Guhle was visibly frustrated after the hit as he headed to the dressing room.
Guhle, drafted 16th overall in 2020 by the Canadiens, got back up on his own after the hit.
Following the sequence, the referees reviewed the play to determine whether a penalty was warranted, and no call was made.
This decision is incomprehensible and reflects the officiating the Canadiens have received since the start of the season.
It will be worth monitoring whether the NHL announces a suspension, as it is not impossible that the Department of Player Safety takes action.
At 24 years old, Guhle is already the defensive pillar of this group despite his young age, and the hope is that he does not suffer a long-term injury.
Finally, the good news is that the Canadiens earned a win against an NHL powerhouse and thankfully Guhle was able to return and finish the game.
