In the past few hours, we learned of an important personnel change within the Canadiens organization.
Since the start of the season, the Montreal Canadiens and the Laval Rocket have made several changes in goal.
Jacob Fowler, Samuel Montembeault, and Jakub Dobes have all played multiple games this season.
Hunter Jones and Kaapo Kahkonen have also played for the Rocket this season.
Goaltending picture continues to shift within the Canadiens organization
That said, the organization made several roster moves and announced the signing of a goaltender.
Here is the announcement:
“The Rocket have recalled goaltender Hunter Jones from the Trois-Rivières Lions.
Goaltender Ben Gaudreau will be out of action for an indefinite period for personal reasons.
The Trois-Rivières Lions have therefore signed emergency goaltender Chris Pascal.” – Lions
Jones is far from an unknown name. He was drafted in the second round, 59th overall, by the Minnesota Wild in 2019. Seeing him return to the Rocket, even for a short stint, is good news for him.
Jacob Fowler has already had a taste of Montreal
When it comes to the depth chart, it’s impossible to avoid Jacob Fowler.
This season, he has already played 10 NHL games with the Canadiens, posting a 4-4-2 record, a 2.62 goals-against average, and a .902 save percentage, along with one shutout.
Fowler, drafted 69th overall in 2023, has shown that he can play in the NHL.
With the goaltending picture continuing to evolve, more moves could be on the horizon within the Canadiens organization.
