While some lucky hockey fans are still cheering their NHL teams on in the conference finals (AKA the second-to-final round) of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, most of us are waiting patiently for next season. Of course, summer is a wonderful opportunity to trade skating at the rink for playing at the beach, but offseason shenanigans only keep hockey fans entertained for so long.
Until now, that is! On May 20, the Philadelphia Flyers announced a brand new member of the team, and he’s ‘paw-sitively’ precious. Meet Stanley!
This 11-week-old Labrador Retriever puppy has already begun his journey toward becoming a service dog, and his time with the Flyers and their fans will play an essential role. Check out his special guest appearance on NBC Philadelphia to learn more!
This sweet little puppy couldn’t be any cuter! He hasn’t even grown into his first service dog vest yet, and he’s much more interested in napping than in causing mischief. He’s the perfect age to start these kinds of interviews and appearances!
This little Yellow Lab was as relaxed as can be, regardless of who held him, which is bound to be a quality that will help him as a service dog in training. Even though he’ll work with one special person after he graduates, a large part of his socialization as a pup and young adult will require him to get used to all kinds of sights, sounds, and people.
Lucky Flyers fans will be able to help with his socialization, too! It’s safe to say that he’ll be making even more appearances at Flyers games and events as he grows, but hopefully, he’ll still come to games with his forever person once he’s all grown up, too.
The Stanley Pup
This ‘Stanley Pup’ was named after the elusive Stanley Cup, which is won by one NHL team each season. Flyers fans voted for this puppy’s name over social media, which proves just how much they’d love the actual Stanley Cup back in Philly.
They’ll have to wait until next fall to see whether the Flyers could be playoff contenders, but until then, this adorable service dog in training is an adorable distraction!
