We’ve got movement in goal within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
The Laval Rocket made an unexpected personnel change, forcing an immediate reassessment of the organization’s goaltending hierarchy.
The official announcement came earlier today via the Trois-Rivières Lions’ account.
The Rocket recalled goaltender Hunter Jones from the ECHL.
This move stems directly from the announcement involving Ben Gaudreau, and to fill those absences, the Lions had to sign emergency goalie Chris Pascal.

That said, the real question observers are asking is about the impact on Laval’s main tandem.
If Jacob Fowler and Kaapo Kähkönen are both healthy, this recall seems unnecessary.
Jacob Fowler is enjoying an excellent first professional season, with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 19 games.
It’s fair to wonder whether this move is hiding another transaction or a promotion.
Is the Canadiens organization preparing a Fowler recall to the NHL?
It’s a tempting theory, but it’s worth remembering that Jakub Dobes and Samuel Montembeault already occupy the crease in Montreal.
Hunter Jones, a former second-round pick of the Wild (2019), has played just two games with the Rocket this season.
His presence suggests the organization needs immediate insurance in Laval.
Why this sudden recall of goaltender Hunter Jones to the Laval Rocket?
I imagine we’ll have the answer shortly.
