The Montreal Canadiens’ affiliate announced that goaltender Ben Gaudreau will be away from the team for an indefinite period.

The Canadiens’ ECHL affiliate will have to do without its goaltender’s services.

Gaudreau is stepping away from the team for personal reasons, news that forced the general manager to act quickly.

“Goaltender Ben Gaudreau will be out of the lineup for an indefinite period for personal reasons.”

– Trois-Rivières Lions

The San Jose Sharks’ third-round pick in 2021 (81st overall) was having an up-and-down season in goal for Trois-Rivières.

In 19 starts this season, he posted a 2.80 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.

His record of six wins, nine losses, and three overtime losses reflects the team’s collective struggles.

A forced reorganization in goal within the Montreal Canadiens organization

The Laval Rocket first recalled goaltender Hunter Jones to bolster its ranks, creating an immediate vacancy in Trois-Rivières.

To fill this double absence, the Lions proceeded with the emergency signing of goaltender Chris Pascal.

The organization issued no further comment out of respect for Gaudreau’s privacy.

This is a significant loss for the Mauricie-based team, which was relying on Gaudreau’s stability to turn its season around.

The 23-year-old had been handling the bulk of the starts, and his absence will change the group’s defensive dynamic.

Fans will hope for an eventual return, but the priority remains the athlete’s well-being away from the ice.

We would like to send positive thoughts to Ben Gaudreau today.
