Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper told reporters Saturday that captain Victor Hedman is likely to play in Sunday’s Stadium Series matchup against the Boston Bruins.

The two teams will be facing off at Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL’s Buccaneers, in an outdoor game Sunday.

Hedman has not played since Dec. 9 after undergoing elbow surgery. The defenceman also missed nearly a month earlier in the season with a separate injury, returned for three games and then underwent the surgery.

The 35-year-old has 12 assists in 18 games this season while averaging 21:05 of ice time.

Hedman will be suiting up for Team Sweden at the Olympics for the first time in Milan in February. He was one of the first six players named to the roster.

Internationally, he helped Sweden win gold at the 2017 IIHF World Championships and has represented his country at the U18s, World Juniors, World Cup of Hockey and 4 Nations Face-off.
