Hanging on still means you got two points!

But first, the Highlights!

Game Notes

Your TOI Leader was Adam Larsson, who logged 22:13.

Man, I told ya about this Vegas team. They can look dead and buried for a good long time, and if you play with fire with them you will suddenly see them rise from the grave. And buddy, nothing says “playing with fire” like a near bottom-of-the-league Penalty Kill going out shift after shift to let the Golden Knights, who are 5th in the entire league in power play success, walk back into this one. Mercifully, the Kraken managed to staunch the bleeding and hang on for what felt like an eternity of a third period and got an all-important two points keeping them 3rd in the Division! A gutsy, gutsy win indeed.

Jared McCann got his 200th goal as an NHLer off a power play bomb, and man he makes it look easy. I get the bad kind of chills thinking about what the Kraken would be like without him. Congratulations to him!

In true NHL fashion, both the Knights and the Kraken had 2 chances at the power play and cashed in once. I am sure this was a fair and reasonable amount and definitely not game management.

Do you think Eeli Tolvanen and Kaapo Kakko are amped for the Olympics yet? Because it feels like they know they’re going to have to pick up the slack with some of Finland’s greater names being out for the tournament.

Joey Daccord finished up a 27 save game with a .931 SV% at the end and boy did he show up big. Especially in the final sequence where it felt like the ice was almost tilted down at him. Just a phenomenal effort.

Did you know the Kraken are undefeated if they have a 2+ goal lead? That sure is fun!

Let’s give a hand to…

Eeli Tolvanen! He got the ball rolling with a second chance swoop-in from a Ryan Winterton chance. Great work by Winterton and Stephenson to create space and basically drew all the attention away from Tolvy in order to get him a chance!

Jared McCann once again put a missile on to get a goal, and got a milestone off of it! Great stuff.

Chandler Stephenson, who had two assists tonight!

Kaapo Kakko who got the benefit of a sneaky great Adam Larsson pass that got him an open lane to Akira Schmid and also [checks notes] …Kaedan Korczak. Real tight shot, too.

Joey Daccord! He’s gotten through his “yips” it seems, and posted 27 saves against a damn good hockey team, or at least a damn difficult hockey team to keep down. Full marks to the Mayor!

Also incidentally his third .930 or better in his last five games. Thinking the issue was load management, which he’ll have plenty of time to work off as he gets a little sun with the family.

The Kraken have only two games left until Milan-Cortina! Unfortunately, they’re also back-to-back. That starts on Tuesday against the Ducks. That game drops the puck at 7pm.

Thanks for reading, and as always!

Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg When We Win.
