William Nylander may be an NHL superstar, but that isn’t stopping him from enjoying everything Toronto has to offer.
The Toronto Maple Leafs star has made quite a name for himself throughout his 11 years playing in the city. While he may be more well-known for his stellar play on the ice, he has proven to have quite a personality off it as well.
Nylander has recently been trying to build a bit of a brand beyond his on-ice skill, having launched a YouTube channel back in September. That channel details his life away from hockey, and shows the behind-the-scenes of an NHL superstar.
It’s an interesting look that fans don’t often get to see from players, and he added to that in a recent collaboration with Canadian fashion and beauty brand The Kit. Nylander dished on all his favourite Toronto spots, ranging from coffee and comfort food to suits and saunas.
The 29-year-old Swede was not shy in revealing his favourite spots around the city.
When it came to food, Nylander admitted he wasn’t much of a coffee or tea person, saying that his favourite beverage spot was local super-food cafe Nutbar.
Professional hockey players aren’t usually ones to indulge in comfort food, but the 28-year-old Swede admitted he has a love of cheeseburgers, with Toronto restaurant RUDY being his go-to.
The Summerhill Market was given a shoutout as his favourite local grocery store.
On the clothing front, Holt Renfrew was singled out by Nylander as the place he goes to get Bottega. Every NHL player needs a place to buy suits and, for the Maple Leafs superstar, that place is Garrison Bespoke.
There were also a few luxury picks from Nylander, who makes an annual average salary of $11.5 million. In particular, he singled out two local saunas, Othership and RCVRI, as his favourites.
Though that isn’t to say he doesn’t have some things in common with local Torontonians. When asked about his favourite mode of transportation, Nylander shouted out the TTC as his go-to to avoid traffic.
It may not be the greatest season for the Maple Leafs, but it’s still interesting to get a closer look at the behind-the-scenes life of one of their superstar players.
