Not only have the Buffalo Bandits been chasing another NLL title, their KeyBank Center roommates, the Buffalo Sabres, have quietly turned into one of the hottest teams in the National Hockey League.
Buffalo Sabres Rise To 4th Place In The Atlantic Division
The Buffalo Sabres have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL over the last two months.
Since December 1, 2025, the Sabres have played 29 games and have a record of 21-7-1. The play they’ve had on the ice has taken them from near the bottom of the Eastern Conference to 4th place in the Atlantic Division, and 6th place in the East. As of Sunday, February 1, 2026, the Sabres have amassed 67 points and are just 7 points away from first place.

If the NHL Playoffs started today, the Sabres would hold the first Wild Card slot and would play against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who currently lead the Atlantic Division and are second in the Eastern Conference.
With more than 25 games left in the season, the Sabres have a lot of hockey left to play, and if the team keeps performing at this level, you can quickly expect them to keep climbing the rankings.
Not only have the Sabres won 15 of their last 20 games, but if that isn’t impressive enough, the Sabres lead the league in Empty Net Goals scored with 18 so far this season.
If February and March are anything like December and January were, the Sabres have a bright road ahead of them on the ice.
