Here is the latest news and updates around the Buffalo Sabres and their schedule for the week of Feb. 2 – 9, 2026.
Alex Lyon Sets Franchise Record With 10th Straight Win
In the Sabres’ 4-1 win against the LA Kings, Sabres goaltender Alex Lyon set a franchise record with his 10th consecutive win, passing Gary Desjardins. Lyon stopped 37 of 38 shots faced in the game and now, on the season, holds a goals-against average of 2.64 and a save percentage of .913 in 25 games played.
Injury Updates: Norris, Bryson Skating Again, Luukkonen Week to Week
Both Josh Norris and Jacob Bryson were seen skating with the team on Saturday morning before the Sabres’ divisional matchup against the Montreal Canadiens. There’s still no firm timeline for Norris as of right now, but it is a good sign that he was on the ice again. I’d expect him to return once the Olympic break is over, but we’ll see. Head coach Lindy Ruff on Norris said, “Just keep evaluating and see where we’re at.”
As for Bryson, he’s missed the last three games with an upper-body injury. He took a cross-check in their previous matchup against the Canadiens on Jan. 22, he said. Ruff expects him to be ready for the team’s matchup against the Florida Panthers on Monday.
Now, with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, he suffered a lower-body injury in the team’s win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 27. On Jan. 29, Ruff said that Luukkonen will “miss a bit of time” and will be reevaluated in about a week.
Sabres’ Forward Alex Tuch Says Team Is Aiming For Stanley Cup
The Sabres are in the midst of one of the best stretches in NHL history, as they are 20-4-1 in their last 25 games. Alex Tuch, a pending unrestricted free agent this summer, stated after the Sabres’ win against the Kings on Thursday night that they are “trying to prove they’re a legit team,” and that they are not only going for the playoffs but also “going for the Cup.”
