VIDEO: Cohasset boys lacrosse wishes everyone a Happy Mother’s Day
Shane Mulcahy, Taighe Dwyer, and Jack Mullaly from the Cohasset High boys lacrosse team share a special Mother’s Day message.
Taighe Dwyer has excelled in golf, hockey, and lacrosse during his junior year at Cohasset High School.Dwyer was named a South Shore League All-Star in hockey and received the league’s Sportsmanship Award.Dwyer is a key midfielder for the Cohasset lacrosse team, which holds the top spot in the Division 4 power rankings.
Taighe Dwyer is having a junior year to remember.
It started back in the fall when he put together a great season with the Cohasset High golf team.
The success carried over into the winter season when the team captain and South Shore League All-Star scored 18 goals and assisted on 17 others for the Cohasset/Hull boys hockey co-op team, helping qualify the squad for the playoffs again this season. Dwyer was also the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award by the SSL.
And the spring season has been just as successful for Dwyer and the Skippers lacrosse squad. Dwyer’s been a key part of the midfield crew in Cohasset High’s (16-2) successful run to an SSL league title as well as the top spot in the Division 4 power rankings as the state tournament gets ready to start in a week.
All that certainly has the essential elements needed to create a year to remember.
“It’s been a good year. I’ve been lucky to have some success in all the sports I play,” Dwyer said.
Hockey and sportsmanship might seem like two things that don’t always go together, but it works very well for Dwyer.
“I think the league recognized the way I play on the ice and how I try to be a leader for the team in the locker room. It was an honor to be considered for the award,” Dwyer said. “I compete hard on the ice, but I think I play fair.”
Cohasset-Hull head coach Phil Mahoney, had nothing but praise for the hard work Dwyer’s put in both on the ice and in the classroom, saying “Taighe Dwyer is the consummate student-athlete. He is respectful and disciplined at home, in the classroom, and on the ice. He is a tremendous leader who sets the right example and is a pleasure to coach.”
Playing that way earned Dwyer and the other 2025 Boston Bruins-MIAA Sportsmanship Award winners from across the state a trip to the TD Garden back on March 17 to see the Boston Bruins take on the Buffalo Sabers. Before the game the winners were honored at a dinner hosted by NHL Hall-of-Famer and Boston Bruins team president Cam Neely.
“It was a really cool event. They treated all of us very well and meeting Cam Neely was great,” said Dwyer.
