The Colorado Avalanche have a lot of injury news to keep up with.

Fortunately, most of it is of the good variety.

Head coach Jared Bednar met with reporters after morning skate on Monday and shared updates on Gabriel Landeskog, Devon Toews and Martin Necas.

Devon Toews is IN tonight

Necas is OUT tonight, but they’re hopeful he can play Wednesday

Landeskog is also OUT tonight, and is less likely to play Wednesday

Jared Bednar said he doesn’t believe Olympic participation is in jeopardy for either Necas or Landeskog

It’ll be nice to see Toews return to the lineup. He hasn’t played since Jan. 3 in Carolina and has been out with a upper-body injury. Cale Makar’s partner on defense, Toews has one goal and 12 assists on the year, but his absence proved his value.

The Avalanche have struggled without Toews, going through a rough 2-4-2 stretch before getting back on track on Saturday and pounding the Red Wings by a final score of 5-0.

Necas missed that game, but it sounds like Bednar is hopeful he’ll be able to go against the Sharks on Wednesday night.

That’s Colorado’s last contest before the three-week Olympic break. While Landeskog likely won’t take the ice against San Jose, he should be ready to represent Team Sweden in Italy later this month. The captain of the Avalanche hasn’t played since a scary collision with the goalposts in Florida on Jan. 4.

Overall, these are positive updates from Bednar. Colorado is a juggernaut with 81 points, the most in the NHL by seven. Having Toews back, plus Landeskog and Necas soon, is obviously great news.

The Avalanche will look to add four more points in the next few nights, then watch their top players pursue a gold medal while the rest of the squad gets a nice chunk of time off before the stretch run.
