The Washington Capitals were without top-four defenseman Martin Fehervary against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday night. The 26-year-old blueliner was listed as out due to “personal reasons,” and we now know what those reasons were.
Fehervary and his girlfriend, Natalia Levius, welcomed their first child, a daughter whom they named Anna.
Martin Fehervary and his girlfriend Natalia welcomed their first child, a daughter named Anna during Saturday’s game. Fehervary said he was so “starstruck” upon seeing her he wasn’t sure whether they’d had a boy or girl at first.

Anna was born shortly after the conclusion of the first period on Sunday.
Natalia first announced the couple was expecting in an Instagram post this past September. “Half of me + half of you 🤍,” she wrote in the caption.
Fehervary is playing his fifth full NHL season with the Washington Capitals this year. The 25-year-old Slovak defenseman signed a seven-year, $42 million contract extension with the club this past July.
After missing Sunday’s game, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery revealed that Fehervary will be good to go against the New York Islanders on Monday night.
Fehervary joins Dylan Strome, whose third daughter, Sutton, was born during a November 21 game in Montreal against the Canadiens, and Jakob Chychrun, whose first child was born last month, as Capitals players to welcome new kids this season.
From everyone at RMNB, we’d like to extend our congratulations to Martin and Natalia on the exciting news.
