It’s a fresh start for Quebec native Jérémie Poirier, as coach Glen Gulutzan can now count on the young defenseman within the Dallas Stars organization.
Defenseman Jérémie Poirier will benefit from a change for his career.
Dallas is betting on his offensive potential. The young blueliner will first head to Texas in the American Hockey League. The goal is to reignite his development within a new system.
Gavin White is heading the other way to Alberta in this transaction. It’s a trade between two prospects looking to find their place.
That said, Poirier has some interesting career numbers, especially last season, when he recorded 42 points in 71 games with the Calgary Wranglers.
A fresh start for Jérémie Poirier in the Dallas Stars organization
Here is the team’s announcement:
“We have acquired defenseman Jeremie Poirier from the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenseman Gavin White.
Poirier will be assigned to the Texas Stars.”
– Dallas Stars
It’s an opportunity for the Quebecer to start fresh and earn a chance to crack the Dallas Stars lineup.
The details of the deal have been finalized between both sides.
Poirier is leaving Canada and will have to work hard with his new team.
If he wants to impress the Stars organization, he’ll need to show quick, efficient puck movement. That’s often what’s missing when it comes to sticking for good.
Even if the jump to the big club will have to wait, the door is open. The Stars like players with his skating profile. We’ll be watching his first steps with his new team on Saturday.
