Details have emerged on potential trade talks between the Detroit Red Wings and the Winnipeg Jets, according to Elliotte Friedman.

The Detroit Red Wings and the Winnipeg Jets are two teams involved in a lot of trade rumors, but for completely different reasons.

Indeed, after years of being among the top teams in the NHL, the Jets appear poised to be sellers at this year’s trade deadline, while the Wings are having a breakout year after a decade of struggles and look to bolster their lineup ahead of the final stretch of the season.

Many rumors between both teams have emerged, and now Elliotte Friedman revealed the two names that could be included in a deal.

Winnipeg Jets And Detroit Red Wings Have Trade Talks

After Logan Stanley’s name circulated in the speculation, another player from the Winnipeg Jets organization appears to be of interest to Steve Yzerman and the Wings.

On the latest 32 Thoughts episode, Elliotte Friedman stated Luke Schenn could also be included in the discussions:

The key element here is that the teams talked with each other, and a deal could potentially go down before the trade deadline.

Schenn or Stanley would be two great candidates for Detroit, despite their pending free agent status.

However, considering the big age difference between the two players, with Schenn being 36 and Stanley 27, the latter appears to be more interesting for Yzerman.

Also, his size makes him an attractive target as well. At six-foot-seven, he would become the tallest player on the Wings’ blue line, surpassing Simon Edvinsson’s six-foot-six.

And with him injured, making a deal sooner rather than later would be an ideal move for Yzerman.
