A new trade proposal has emerged that would send Vancouver Canucks veteran forward Evander Kane to a Western Conference powerhouse before next month’s deadline.
In less than 48 hours, the National Hockey League’s roster freeze for the 2026 Winter Olympics will go into effect and teams are still pondering whether or not they’ll make a move now or wait until play resumes on February 25th.
“Evander Kane’s agent Dan Milstein has been given permission to help facilitate a trade for his client.” Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali said on X.

“Per multiple sources, I’m told the @DallasStars and @Avalanche are among the likely destinations for @Canucks F Kane via potential trade.” Weekes said recently.
“When noting that he is a hard-nosed forward who contributes offensively, he could work nicely in the Avalanche’s bottom six if successfully acquired. When looking for a specific spot in the Avalanche’s lineup for Kane, he could be a nice pickup for their third line with Jack Drury and Joel Kiviranta.” DeRosa said about Kane being a potential fit for the Avalanche.
As of Monday, the Avalanche are first in the National Hockey League’s overall standings with 36 wins in 53 games and while they’re hoping to make an addition or two before the trade deadline, they only have $3.6 million in cap space, so they’ll need teams like the Vancouver Canucks to retain salary, which will increase the return, albeit slightly, if the two clubs can work out an Evander Kane deal.
In 54 games this season, the Vancouver native has 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists), 64 penalty minutes and is a minus-17.
