Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini has been called out for not meeting with the media & not responding to their requests for interview as club enters rebuild.
The last 15 years have been tough for the Vancouver Canucks organization, with just five appearances in the playoffs since losing in seven games in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final to the Boston Bruins.
With the club going to miss the postseason for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, the Vancouver Canucks decided enough is enough and it’s time to rebuild if they want to have any chance of being a contender in the years to come.
“We are transitioning into a rebuild here, acquiring younger players through the draft. Obviously, the draft is really important for us. Since Jim and I got [here] three years ago, we’ve definitely always emphasized on getting younger.” GM Patrik Allvin said.

“This is a call to Canucks chairman Francesco Aquilini to speak publicly. He’s been asked for an interview by a group of reporters, but there’s been no response.” Johnston said.
While it’s not often that team owners meet with the media, it certainly feels like Aquilini should at some point in the near future as the club is heading in a new direction with their rebuild and it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on the state of the organization.
It’s probably unlikely that Aquilini will speak with reporters anytime soon, which is unfortunate, but hopefully once the dusts settles and the regular season concludes, a press conference can be held where he’ll without a doubt face some very difficult questions, whether it’s about the rebuild or what’s the plan for a practice arena.
