The Boston Bruins picked up two more wins last week, extending their record to 11-2-2 since the new year. During this span, Boston has averaged 4.1 goals per game and has scored at least three goals in each of its past six outings. The Bruins currently find themselves in fifth place in the Atlantic Division and sixth place in the Eastern Conference, boasting a 32-20-4 record, 68 points, and a +14 goal differential.

With the NHL Olympic Break quickly approaching, the scheduling will start to look a bit odd. As a result, the Bruins have just one team on their mind before the Olympic break in the Florida Panthers. Florida finds itself in eighth place in the Atlantic Division; however, just nine points separate the club from Boston, so this is an important game right before the break.

The Florida Panthers are in eighth place in the Atlantic Division and 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 28-24-3 record, 59 points, and a -13 goal differential.

These two teams met earlier in the season on Oct. 21, a game in which Florida won, 4-3, thanks to a last-second goal with just over 30 seconds remaining. It has been a rough season for the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions, as they find themselves in last place in a highly competitive Atlantic Division. The club has lost four straight games and nine of its past 16 outings since the start of the new year. Injuries have certainly plagued this team this season, with both Matthew Tkachuk (2G, 4A) and Aleksander Barkov missing extended time, though Tkachuk has since returned with six points across eight games.

The club ranks 15th in 5v5 goals per 60, but it has allowed the eighth-most 5v5 goals against per 60. It ranks eighth in 5v5 Corsi% and 12th in 5v5 xGoals%, but finds itself with the 12th-worst 5v5 goal differential, thanks to uncharacteristic goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky (3.11 GAA, .872 SV%). Bobrovsky’s SV% is a career low, and out of 91 eligible goaltenders, he ranks 86th in goals saved above expected and 67th in SV% above expected, respectively.

Sam Reinhart (27G, 27A) is the club’s leading point-getter, with Brad Marchand (25G, 25A) right behind him, despite playing 10 fewer games. Marchand’s average of 12.4 DraftKings fantasy points leads the team, with the 37-year-old posting elite scoring metrics, ranking first in 5v5 goals per 60 among skaters with at least 175 minutes of ice time. Florida ranks seventh in PK% and 21st in PP%, but it still ranks inside the top-10 in power plays scored, thanks to over 20 more power play opportunities than the next closest team.
