If anyone was going to cool down the Penguins, it was the Ottawa Senators, who stopped the Pens’ winning streak last night. Paul Steigerwald has the story.

Penguins coach Dan Muse issued a coach’s challenge to Claude Giroux’s game-winning goal, claiming goaltender interference, but the goal was allowed after a lengthy review.  Defenseman Erik Karlsson had already been called for a delayed tripping call when Giroux went sprawling into goaltender Arturs Silovs, then crashed into the post and dislodged the net.  The league ruled that the goal went in before the net was knocked off, and that Karlsson had caused Giroux to skate into Silovs.

Both Silovs and Muse disputed the call, the coach saying he was never given an explanation.

Muse says the Penguins just didn’t have it last night.
