Vancouver Canucks head coach Adam Foote have a worrying update following Monday night’s loss after forward Filip Chytil was forced to leave the game due to injury.

The Canucks went down early, with Nick Schmaltz picking up his 20th of the season less than four minutes in, before picking up his 21st a short while later, giving the Mammoth a 2-1 lead after the first period.

Utah would go on to add four more goals to down the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 6-2 and while the team might not be too worried about getting the two points at the moment amid their rebuild, there was some concern off the ice as Filip Chytil was forced to leave the game due to an injury.

As the Canucks returned to the ice for the third period, there was no sign of Czech centerman Filip Chytil, with the club sharing on social media that he would be out for the remainder of the game.

“Forward Filip Chytil will not return to tonight’s game.” the Canucks said.

When meeting with reporters after the game, Vancouver Canucks head coach Adam Foote was asked about Filip Chytil and what was going on, with the bench boss sharing that the forward had “tweaked something”.

Foote went on to add that he’s hoping it’s not related to his previous head injury this season and that Chytil will be further evaluated by the team’s medical staff on Tuesday.

“While the team initially did not give a reason for why Chytil left the game, head coach Adam Foote said post-game that the forward had “tweaked something.”

When asked a follow-up if the injury was related to Chytil’s history with concussions, Foote replied: “I hope not.”” Sportsnet shared.

Chytil, 26, made his return to the Vancouver Canucks’ lineup on January 23rd after a three-month absence due to a head injury after he was hit up high by Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson back in October.

“We all have; we’ve had many discussions with Filip. He understands the situation. Our Czech agent also has been very involved with Filip, Ales Volek; we’ve worked with Ales for 20 years, and he’s very, very close to the Czech clients that we have, and they talk about everything. So, yes, he wants to play hockey, but you have to have those discussions when you have had that many injuries. But I think you know each one is different. You have to listen to the doctors about the type of injury that you’re dealing with.” Filip Chytil’s agent JP Barry said during a recent interview on Donnie & Dhali.

We’ll have to wait and see how today goes regarding how Filip Chytil is feeling, but hopefully it isn’t too serious and he’ll be able to suit up for the team’s final game before the Olympic break tomorrow night against the Vegas Golden Knights.
