The Montreal Canadiens placed former Maple Leafs forward Sammy Blais on waivers Tuesday as they look to move on from the veteran.

Per Elliotte Friedman on X, the Montreal Canadiens placed veteran Sammy Blais on waivers Tuesday afternoon as a way to shore up some space in the lineup:

With the Maple Leafs he recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) after being claimed off waivers previously by Toronto from…you guessed it, Montreal.

He’s bounced around the league but has spent the majority of his career with the St. Louis Blues; a reason why he was brought into Toronto thanks to the connection with Craig Berube.

Blais will be able to be claimed by another team within the next 24 hours, and if not then it is likely he would be assigned to the Laval Rocket.

There may not be a spot for Blais in the NHL especially with the roster freeze coming into effect in the next couple days, but could be a great mentor for the young guns down in Laval.

For the Maple Leafs, they could do something hilarious by claiming Blais yet again though it’s highly unlikely though if the team is going to want cheap bodies to fill the lineup after a sell-off; you can’t count it out just yet.

But for now, the Canadiens say goodbye to Blais though his stint with the team wasn’t exactly the worst.
