The last time these two teams met, which wasn’t long ago, it seemed like the Sens season may have just ended. While the Sens continue to struggle to catch up in the standings, they are up almost 20% in playoff odds and have won 4 in a row since that frustrating performance.

The Sens are looking to continue their winning streak and close off the remainder of the road trip successfully before the break. The Canes, on the other hand, are looking to finish their final home game before the Olympic Break on a high note after an impressive comeback win against the LA Kings.

The Hurricanes remain a strong force to face, and with a back-to-back, the Sens have a heavy task ahead of them. That also means we will most likely see James Reimer back in the net, a presence that very few have missed.

After a near perfect game last night, all indications point out to the Sens going back to the same lineup as last night with the starting goalie change.

Game Notes:I mentioned above that last night’s game was near perfect because once again, the Sens continue to struggle immensely on the power play. There was no reason for the game to have been close if they had capitalized on even 1 of the 5 power play opportunities they got. You can’t win many games without your special teams. The out of town scoreboard has not been friendly to the Sens, the majority of the results have gone against them so they must try to get whatever points they can grab. Maybe a regulation win is too much to ask but can we at least get a point?Brady Tkachuk seems to be playing more aggressively lately, which is nice to see. We’ll see if his power play performance also ticks up soon. How good has Tim Stützle been? If Tim Stützle scores a goal and an assist tonight, he’ll be the first Ottawa player since Dany Heatley to have four consecutive games with at least a goal and an assist. The Sens have one more game after this one before the break. Their latest winning streak has put them in a good position to stay in the fight, but they need to at least get 2-3 points in the next two games; 4 would be ideal. Alex Adams from Sportsnet mentioned today that, according to MoneyPuck, the Sens playoff odds go up to 50% with a regulation win. Can someone send that message to the team, too?The Sens’ last visit to Lenovo Arena ended with a 3-0 win, let’s hope the fortunes repeat tonight. You can watch the game at 7pm on TSN or listen live at TSN1200.
