The Tampa Bay Lightning (36-14-4) defeated the Buffalo Sabres (32-18-6) 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night in Tampa. With the win, the Lightning continued their hot streak, now at 18-1-1 in their past 20 games.
Nikita Kucherov had a goal and three assists for the second straight game. His goal came at the 10:24 mark of the first period to get the scoring started in this game. The Sabres scored to tie the game 1-1 late in the first period, which would be the score heading into the third.
The Sabres built leads of 2-1 and 3-2 in the third period, but Darren Raddysh scored with twenty-six seconds to go in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. In overtime, it was Juke Guentzel coming up with the game winner that lifted Tampa Bay to the second point.
The Lightning look to stay hot when they host the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Panthers is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Thursday night from Benchmark International Arena in Tampa.
